The entire treatment should only take about 30 minutes, and you should be able to resume all your normal activities right away.
Individual results and recovery times may vary.
The most common temporary side effects include:
- Mild bruising and swelling
- Slight redness
More rare and serious complications include:
- Allergic reactions
- Skin damage/scarring near the injection site
- Vascular occlusion (blockage of blood vessels)
To avoid excessive bruising, we recommend ceasing blood thinning medications and/or supplements (always consult your doctor first).
If you are susceptible to cold sores, you may like to be prepared with anti-viral medication to prevent the injections triggering an outbreak.
Because they contain so many blood vessels, lips are highly susceptible to swelling.
Immediately after the treatment, your lips will be enlarged and packed with volume but also swollen
To minimise swelling, you can apply ice packs at 20-minute intervals throughout the day.
We also recommend:
- Keeping your head elevated at night by sleeping with more pillows
- Avoiding lipstick and lip balms for 24 hours
- Avoiding kissing or touching your lips for 24 hours
- Avoiding massaging your lips for the next 2 weeks (this can cause filler to move).
The morning following your treatment, your lips may be even more swollen than the day before. This is a normal and expected part of the healing process.
After this, the swelling will begin to go down. Swelling should be gone about three days after your treatment, revealing a realistic view of the changes.
Although results vary between individuals, most clients find that the results of their treatment last from 12 to 18 months.
