skin’s integrity, it may be performed on almost every skin type, condition and colour.
Whilst it is not mandatory to prepare the skin with any specific products, those complexions which are
affected by pigmentation or excessive sun-damage are recommended to use topical pigment-blockers
such as vitamin C in conjunction with a sunscreen daily. DermaPen treatments cannot be performed
on skin that has recently been sunburnt, damaged or experiencing aggressive cystic acne.
Preparation before treatment:
Prior to the procedure, a numbing cream is applied to the skin in order to
minimise any discomfort from the micro-needling injections.
During the treatment, the pen gently glides over the skin,
tiny punctures are created within the epidermis and dermis that encourage
the skin’s natural healing response, leading to the production of collagen and elastin.
Disposable needles are used for each treatment to eliminate the risk of
contamination, and the adjustable needle depths allow for treatment to be
tailored to the specific needs of the individual.
Vertical operation of 12 micro needles, automatically driven strictly to the
specified depth, stimulates collagen and elastin synthesis and multiplies the
effect of active components of beauty care products, allowing for a significant
improvement in the condition and appearance of skin. It is also ideal for
younger patients who want to prevent wrinkles altogether.
Once the treatment is complete, the skin may be slightly pink for about
24 hours, and it is recommended that no makeup be worn for 12 hours following.
24–48 hours post-treatment, the skin may begin to flake or peel.
It is imperative that all skins are protected with daily application of a sunscreen
after any needling treatment. Any tightness or flaking may be relieved with the
application of a light moisturiser applied twice daily. During recovery, the use of
scrubs or active ingredients such as vitamin A or AHAs should be stopped
for a minimum of 5 days. Any redness or petechiae (blood blisters) may be easily
concealed with a mineral make-up during recovery.
It is recommended to avoid high-cardio workouts and any activities that may cause
heat or sweat for a minimum of 48 hours post DermaPen treatment.
Normal activities including work may be resumed immediately with no downtime required.
On its own, micro-needling is a highly effective procedure that can help
smooth fine lines and wrinkles, fade scars and stretch marks,
